== The Project ==
The assignment for this project was to take pictures of objects close up, and then select one that had the best composition. The best composition meant that it had three triangles of interest. The elements used were color, value, form and space. The principles used were emphasis, movement, balance, and unity.
== My Process ==
Before I started on this art project I had to take many pictures of various objects from different angles.
Then I had to pick the one that had the best composition- the picture with a triangle of interest.
The steps in making this work of art that were most important to me were the application of oil pastels. I thought it was most important because choosing the right colors and blending the pastels together is what takes the drawing to the next level.
One part of the process that was a little difficult for me was blending the pastels together in the tight spaces. I mostly used my finger for the majority of the blending, but I had to use a Q-tip for the small spaces, and it was difficult because I couldn’t get it how I wanted it.
== The Theme ==
My drawing represents flowers. There is no deep meaning behind it because it’s just flowers. It reminded of a project I did in 6th grade where we studied Vincent van Gogh’s paintings of flowers, and tried to take his techniques and apply it to our own flower drawings with oil pastels.
== Conclusion ==
I really enjoyed this project because oil pastels are just one of my favorite mediums. I just like how I can choose three different colors and blend them together to create the exact color I wanted.
I want to improve on adding pastel to the tight, small spaces, because they are really hard to blend in.
